Tasks:
● As a Purchasing member of team Japan you will be responsible for sourcing goods and managing suppliers from Japan.
● You will be responsible for planning the order / reorder of goods based on sales forecast in time in joint cooperation with the rest of the Purchasing team. You will carry out strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers.
● You will search and develop new products as well as perform market and literature research on products and health topics in close cooperation with the Managing Director.
Specifically, this includes:
● Forecasting levels of demand for products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels in a cooperation with other department
● Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
● Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
● Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good
relationships with them.
● Negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress, checking the quality of
service provided.
● Monitoring payments and invoices in cooperation with Accounting Dpt.
● Keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future.
● Forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities.
● Developing the organisation's purchasing strategy.
● Generating reports and statistics using computer software.
● Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors.
● Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
● Controlling and system update for incoming goods from suppliers.
Education / Studies:
● Previous business experience, especially in purchasing and importing, would be advantageous
● Commercial awareness/ strong negotiation skills
● Ability to adapt to different client and supplier needs and to develop and maintain successful
working relationships
● A good standard of numeracy in order to analyse facts and figures
